Just finished watching it and it was worth the wait.
In some ways it more than exceeded my expectations, in some in met them, and in some it was just a little below par.
I'll start with the bad and work up so that we end on the positive.
My main complain was the lightness of the plot - it felt like they'd really had to stretch it out to fit the time. Some of the scenes were utterly pointless although not tedious- the Jack/Ianto one was nice but didn't fit in with the rest, for example. What also interested me most from the premise was getting to see a bit of 'historical' Torchwood and seeing less than a minute's worth (repeated twice).
It met them in that we knew that they would do the right thing as always, but for a team that can't wait to do the stupid thing normally, it toed the line on an occasion where a screw up could have been interesting.
Now for what I liked - and you'll be surprised that there was a LOT about it I liked. I loved getting to see more of Tosh in a favourable way and her character sparkled through the episode. I'd been expecting a lack of any Owen/Tosh interaction and was surprised with more in this episode that has been squeezed into all of them combined. I liked Tommy, I liked his tragic story, and I really liked the dynamic between him and Tosh. What's surprising was that I didn't see that that 'you're my big strong hero' moment coming even though I'd known it was going to happen - so bonus points for that.
