| Stolen from ophelia_winters. 1. When did you start watching? I started watching halfway through The End of the World. My mum was gutted because we missed the first ep nd made us watch even though we were visiting relatives that day. Really enjoyed what I saw/understood of it and wanted to watch the next.
1a. Why? Well, I knew Who was huge back in the day and so I thought it would be hard to get into - but what I saw was fun and well written. 2. What was your first episode? End of the World.
3. Which episodes have you seen? All NuWho - haven't been able to afford old Who yet...
3a. Favourite? Blugh...S1=Empty Child, S2=New Earth, S=3 Blink/Human Nature, S4= Partners in Crime, Fires of Pompeii, Unicorn and the Wasp, Turn Left. Plus the first two Christmas specials.
4. Are your friends/family interested in the show? We are the most Who obsessed family in the country! My mum is the undisputed QUEEN of Who, having seen every single episode. EVER. My dad hasn't started a sentance in three years that doesn't begin 'I've got a theory about season whatever/torchwood/who the new doctor will be'. For season three we has a sign in our window saying VOTE SAXON! much to the puzzlement of our neighbours!
5. Which Doctor is your favourite? 10, then 9. 11 looks promising too.
6. Which Doctor is your least favourite? None!
7. Which TV companion is your favourite? Donna just because I fangirl her. BUT I adore Rose in every way too. And I didn't dislike Martha for that matter. And what about Jack? 8. Which TV companion is your least favourite? The bar is pretty high (see above) so I'll just say Mickey because I didn't hate him but wasn't OMG!SQUEE about him.
9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios? No
9a. If so, which is your favourite? N/A
9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite? N/A 10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios? Yes...mostly one's I'd already read.
11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories? Nearly all (excepting a few new ones and a couple with Martha)
11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
11b. Which is your favourite? Stone Rose, Feast of the Drowned, Only Human, and The Doctor Trap (BRILLIANT - read that one it's genius!)
12. Have you read any of the comics? No.
13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)? Torchwood.
13a. Which is your favourite? Torchwood.
14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read? Would like to see the film with Paul McGann, also want to read all the Donna books.
Fandom
1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who? Er, yeah *shifts eyes*
1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)! My only WIP is a TW fic called Eighteen Years:
Owen and Tosh receive messages from older versions of themselves who were accidentally sent back to 1990. The problem is that one of them wants their younger counterpart to prevent the accident that sent them back, and the other wants them to create it. 2. Do you create Doctor Who icons? No
3. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation! Thanks to ophelia for reccing my Stowaway fic!
My all time favourites are:
Facets by padwanpooh Carbon (followup to Facets) by Dark Aegis Chaos Theory in the (can't remember rest of the v. long title) by earlgreytea Suddenly I See by SimpleSerenity Turn Your Back, Look Away, and Blink by Lumenda
4. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions? No but I have been to the Blackpool Doctor Who museum...four times.
5. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character? No. Not yet anyhow.
6. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise? This may take time. Twenty-seven books, the DVDs, four plastic tardises, a TARDIS key ring, a 3D poster of DT and a Cyberman, 2 posters of Rose/Ten, a sticker set, a Doctor doll (Barbie/Ken sized) in my car (the cars name is Harkness but isn't a DW product itself) a Doctor action figure, a Rose, Martha, Jack, Sarah-Jane, Brannigan, and Weeping Angel action figure, 3 sonic screwdrivers, a psychic paper set with invisible ink, and a sonic screwdriver bath fizzer set with showergel (nothing quite like having a shower with DT grinning cheekily at you...)
7. Are you a fan of Russell T Davies? Well you know how the ryhme goes...when he's good he's very very good, and when he's bad he's embarassing...
7a. Steven Moffat? Genius. Absolute genius. Only home he tones down his habit of putting the Doctor with people who are a bit...Mary-Sue.
7b. Paul Cornell? Yes.
8. What say you to Season 6b? huh...
9. The UNIT dating controversy? Addressed well in S. Stratagem.
10. The Blinovitch Limitation effect? Huh?
11. Multi-Doctor episodes? Would be amazing to have a new one!
12. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble? The whole 'didn't want to say 'magic door' line.
13. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors? Uh...no. Not really. Although if I'd known what the future would bring I would have regretted missing the first ep of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) because it had the rare odds of having Tom Baker and David Tennant in it together...
14. Have you met any of the actors? No. My mum bumped in to Tom Baker once (in WH Smiths...next to a display of DW DVDs if you can believe it...). I also exchanged emails with the man who 'Mrs. Ratcliffe's Revolution' was based on (starring Catherine Tate) and he told me she was lovely.
14a. Travelled to any filming locations? Yes, actually. Been on the London eye and walked down the bit that they ran down holding hands in 'Rose'. No alien activity you'll be pleased to know. Also been to Wales, but no filming locations.
15. What do you think of The Curse of Fatal Death? Remember it from before I was a Who fan. Was funny then.
16. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular? Not as I can think of. I err on the side of liking the idea of the Doctor being in love, but not hearts and flowers. I also like the idea of Rose being his OTP - which is a sin to some fans. However, I recognise that the show can't work that way, so I just enjoy it in fandom.
17. What's your favourite pairing? Doctor/Rose, Donna/Jack, Martha/Jack, Owen/Tosh, Jack/Jackie (someone needs to write that fic), Gwen/Jack
18. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole? Doctor/Anyone but Rose, and if I'm feeling a little wild, Donna (Donna is god, she can get away with anything - snogging Ten included). Doctor/Master. Owen/Gwen (put me off season 1)

| Well I wasn't expecting Matt Smith to be picked. I can't say I know much about him (having only seen the Ruby in the Smoke once, when it very first was shown).
However, unlike a large portion of the (frankly hysterical) fandom I quite like the look of him. Yes he's young - but if Stephen Moffat likes him, that can't be too big of an issue. Also - it's not like he's 21, he's 26. And he's unusual enough looks-wise not to be dismissed as a HAWT!YOUNG ACTOR who will have his shirt off in under 3 minutes.
So overall I'm impressed with the choice and look forward to the new series. Although I'll be hysterical at loosing DT, I'm hopeful about Matt.
Now bring back Donna! | |
|
| I have finally managed to pull myself together enough to watch a Donna episode of Doctor Who. I didn't even sniffle - although my mum must have gotten sick of me saying 'I miss Donna...please let her come back...she was my favourite...'.
This momentous achievement is dampened by my absolute terror over the new who (Christmas). I have a sneaky feeling that as it's actually called 'The Next Doctor' it may actually feature the regeneration - after all we would have time to warm to the next Doctor and a switchover would be far less painful.
*clings to hope that Christmas Regeneration would be too traumatic for children*

| According to my dad (not a totally reliable source of info - but quite hot about DW news), David Tennant is DEFINATELY coming back and...
Dun, dun dun....
DONNA IS BACK FOR A SPECIAL.
He passed this on to my mum who told me in passing, this worries me because if this was definate news article I would have been told seconds after it was published.
HOWEVER - he does have a friend who knows someone who apparantly told him about the end of S4 long before it happened and was totally right.
I so want to believe it - but if there's an article tomorrow you heard it here first! If it's not true...I'll maim dad for getting my hopes up.
(For the record, I'm sure about the DT thing anyway - to kill him off before season 5 would mean doing it on Christmas day - which seems a little harsh on the children -and me for that matter. As for the Donna thing I watched an interview with her where she said no - but it was a not quite making eye contact never-say-never kind of no which made me wonder at the time whether there was more to it)

| What has Russell T Davies started?
| |
|
| Stick with it till the end and I'll garruntee you'll cackle with laughter.
"Hmm...New Labour. Weird." "Boyish grin, last of the Time Lords hand gesture, even more charming smile..."
